Pedestrian seriously injured when struck
A 59-year-old man who apparently was heavily intoxicated was seriously injured Thursday night when he was struck by a vehicle in the 1100 block of West Olive Avenue.
Police said the man, whose name was not released, was crossing the busy four-lane roadway at 10:46 p.m.
“Further investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing Olive Avenue, outside of any crosswalk, when the collision occurred,” stated a police department report.
He was struck by a vehicle driven westbound on Olive Avenue by a 22-year-old woman. She was not injured.
The pedestrian was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno due to apparent head trauma. His status remains critical.
