Deputies find Strathmore man who wielded weapon

STRATHMORE—A 21-year-old Strathmore man was arrested Monday after authorities found he was carrying an expandable baton.

Tulare County deputies took Jose Contreras into custody following a report that a man had brandished a firearm.

At about 1 p.m., the deputies were dispatched to the area, near Road 232 and Avenue 198, and contacted Contreras during a traffic stop.

During a search of the vehicle, the deputies found the alleged baton.

Contreras was booked into the Porterville Substation on suspicion of a weapon violation.
