Crime Blotter 09/11/12

Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012
Grand Theft
Officers contacted a victim regarding the theft of power tools and hand tools from his residence in the 1500 block of West San Lucia Avenue within the last three weeks. There are suspect leads and the investigation is ongoing.

Auto Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, Forgery, Burglary
Officers responded to the DMV regarding a female who was attempting to register a stolen vehicle. The suspect, Tammy Jones, was contacted and detained without incident. Further investigation determined that Jones had stolen the vehicle from Carlsbad. She was attempting to forge the registered owner’s signature on the pink slip in order to change the registration to her name. Jones was booked at Bob Wiley Detention Facility.

Domestic Battery
Officers responded to the 400 block of West Springville Avenue regarding a domestic violence report. The victim was contacted and stated she was choked by her live-in boyfriend, Tommy Smith, 24, while they were in an argument. Smith fled the scene prior to police arrival. He is being sought by police.

Public Intoxication
Officers responded to the 200 block of North Pearson Drive regarding a man down. Officers contacted Donnie Stone, 60, and he was very intoxicated. Stone was subsequently transported to the TCSO Porterville Substation and booked.

Vandalism
Officers responded to the Mission De Jesus regarding a vandalism report. The reporting person stated suspect(s) broke the window located on the east side of the church

Vehicle Tampering
Officers responded to the 200 block of North Main Street regarding a vehicle tampering report. The victim stated suspect(s) damaged the ignition to his Toyota. Physical evidence was recovered from the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Warrant Arrest, Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, False Identification to a Police Officer
Officers contacted Crystal Mena, 29, during a traffic stop. She initially provided the name of Jasmine Ortiz; however, her true identity was learned and she was determined to have a felony warrant for her arrest. She was also determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance. She was arrested and booked.

Warrant Arrest
Officers contacted Kathleen Canuteson, 50, in the 1700 block of West Olive Avenue during call of an unwanted subject. She was determined to have a warrant for her arrest and was arrested.
