Search warrant leads to arrest of pregnant woman

Case: 2 suspected gang members also jailed.

A woman who is seven months pregnant was arrested with two other suspects this week during the serving of a narcotics search warrant in Porterville.

Patty Cook, 21, was present during the service of the search warrant. Eddie Rodriquez, 49, and Kyle Slaughenhaupt, 20, were arrested. During the search, which took place at 5 p.m. Tuesday at 100 W. School Ave., investigators reportedly located suspected crystal methamphetamine packaged for sale and suspected marijuana.

Cook was allegedly found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was found to be seven months pregnant.

Detectives with the Porterville Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit also located packaging material, hypodermic syringes, a police model PR-24 baton and other items police suspect are associated with the sales of crystal methamphetamine and marijuana, authorities report.

Rodriguez and Slaughenhaupt were booked on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and marijuana for sale, maintaining a residence where illegal substances are being sold, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, possession of a deadly weapon and being members of a criminal street gang.

Both are being held in lieu of a $25,000 bail.

Cook was booked at the Bob Wiley Detention Facility on suspicion of child endangerment.
