Seafood company hoping to land some workers
A person in Porterville would not usually think about finding a job on the icy seas, but that is exactly the opportunity being given today at the Porterville Employment Connection, 1061 W. Henderson Ave.
Icicle Seafoods, a world-wide provider of quality seafood products, will be recruiting for seasonal jobs off the coast of Alaska.
“Our wild fish is caught in the pristine waters of Alaska. To provide our customers with the freshest products, we process our fish close to where it is caught,” wrote Alma Greinier, one of the company’s recruiters who will be at the jobs office today.
Icicle Foods will be presenting at the regularly scheduled Job Squad, where job seekers learn about new opportunities. The Job Squads are held at 8:30 and 10 a.m., said Jeff Forbes, assistant director of Community Relations with CSET. The company will begin its interviews at 11 a.m., but Forbes suggests applicants attend one of the Job Squads.
“We are looking for individuals who are seeking an opportunity to earn money and are available for seasonal work. The season begins in January and goes to mid-May. Our work sites are located in remote areas of western Alaska and include land plants and vessels,” said Greinier.
Transportation from Seattle, Wash., meals and housing are included along with a salary.
