Crime blotter 2/13/13

Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Wednesday, Feb. 13

Warrant Arrest
Officers contacted Yolanda Gonzales, 36, at a residence in the 200 block of South Cloverleaf regarding a misdemeanor warrant. Gonzales was cited and released in the field.

Assault on School Grounds
Officers responded to Porterville High School regarding two students involved in a physical altercation. A juvenile suspect jumped a victim on campus before school. Both students received minor injuries to their face. The suspect was arrested for the altercation and transported to the Juvenile Detention Facility where he was booked.

School Resource Officers
Active Shooter Training was conducted for school staff by School Resource Officers at Porterville High School today.

Traffic Unit
Officers represented our agency at the funeral of fallen Riverside Police Officer Mike Crain in Riverside.

Residential Burglary
Officers responded to West Grand Avenue regarding a residential burglary. The victim stated that she left her residence today and returned at 7:30 p.m. When she returned, she discovered that unknown suspects(s) had taken items from inside. The victim stated that the suspects(s) had apparently entered through an unlocked window and took a Fuji camera and small wood box.

Auto Theft
Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of North Walch Street regarding a stolen vehicle. The victim stated that sometime within the last 45 minutes, suspect(s) stole her gray 1994 Honda Accord from in front of the residence.

Felony Warrant
Officers stopped a vehicle at Olive Avenue and Mathew Street and contacted the occupants, Jose Lara, 35, and Alana Ornelas, 27. Lara had a felony warrant and Ornelas had felony and misdemeanor warrants. Both were arrested without incident and booked at the substation.
