THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

A 33-year-old Tipton woman was defrauded by a pair of scam artists who took $3,080 from her.

Ofelia Magana reported the incident at 7:14 p.m. Wednesday to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department.

Magana said two people approached her at about 2:30 p.m. while she was in Porterville. She said they promised her a portion of the winnings if she drove them to the lottery office and helped them cash a winning lottery ticket, authorities report.

She reportedly gave the suspects cash and jewelry and drove them to the Tipton area, where the pair reportedly disappeared with Magana’s money and property.

The case is under investigation.
