Firework sales kick off June 28

Residents of the Orange Belt will have little trouble finding a place where to purchase fireworks for this Fourth of July.

There are 35 locations spread out from the cities of Lindsay and Porterville to many county locations.

Sales in all areas begin at noon on June 28. For booths in the cities of Porterville and Lindsay, sales will end at 10 p.m. on July 4. For the booths in the county, sales can continue until midnight on the Fourth of July.

Residents are reminded they can use on Safe and Sane fireworks approved by the state fire marshal. In the city of Porterville, any other [illegal] fireworks can result in a citation and the fine is $1,500.

Teams made up of the Porterville Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team, Porterville Fire Investigators, Code Enforcement and Police Volunteers will be on the look-out for illegal fireworks on July 4. The patrols will focus specifically on illegal fireworks.

Booths are required to display all of the laws and regulations pertaining to the use of fireworks in a location visible to the public.
