Rollin' Relics collecting toys during Cruise Night
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Rollin’ Relics Car Club will collect toys for area children at their monthly cruise night Friday.
The community is invited to drop off donated unwrapped toys for needy children from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Pizza Factory, in the parking lot on the corner of Henderson Avenue and Porter Road.
The club has supported various organization in the past years with their toy drives but this year the toys will go to “Cowboy” Robert Coy’s program in Poplar.
“He has been giving gifts to the area needy children for 13 years on Christmas Eve,” Tim Day of the Rollin’ Relics said. “He, as Santa, and his helpers as elves, they distribute the toys and gift bags to all that come to his house, until he runs out. All types of unwrapped toys are welcome, but a stuffed animal will put a certain sparkle in the eye of child.”
Club members will be available to receive the toy donations.
The club still invites community members to bring their classic, hot rod, custom car, finished or not, to display at the “Show and Shine” Cruise Night. There is no fee for displaying a car, but participants are encouraged to bring a donation toy.
