Man stabbed in robbery attempt

PORTERVILLE

Porterville police officers are attempting to identify two man who allegedly assaulted a man in a robbery Friday afternoon.

Police were called to the 700 block of East Orange Avenue regarding a fight in which citizens were reported to be hitting each other with chairs.

Officers found an assault victim, bleeding from stabs wounds. The injuries were allegedly sustained during a robbery attempt, committed by two suspects.

The victim was stabbed once in the chest and the back of his neck before one of his friend’s smashed a chair over one of the suspects. The suspects allegedly held a knife to the victim’s neck and demanded money. When the victim did not produce any property, the suspects forced him into the carport where they assaulted him. The victim’s friend intervened and the suspects fled on foot.

Detectives interviewed witnesses and processed the crime scene. A detective interviewed the victim, who was treated for his injuries and released from the hospital.
