THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

Porterville resident Maria Cisneros, 23, died Sunday after sustaining major head trauma during a car accident.

Cisneros, a passenger in a truck being driven by 24-year-old Porterville resident Eddie Rodriguez, was not wearing her seat belt when the vehicle collided with a dirt embankment on Road 252. When the truck rolled over, she was subsequently ejected from the vehicle.

They were southbound on Road 252, south of Avenue 136, when for an unknown reason, Rodriguez turned the Ford F-150 to the left, across the northbound lane of Road 252 and onto the east shoulder — where the truck struck the raised dirt embankment.

Cisneros was taken to Sierra View District Hospital where she died.

Rodriguez sustained minor injuries and was taken to Sierra View District Hospital for a medical evaluation.
