Crime Blotter 06/13/12
Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Petty Theft
Officers responded to the 99 Cent Store on West Henderson Avenue regarding a theft. The victim reported that he was purchasing items at the front counter and left his wallet behind. When he returned someone had taken it.
Identity Theft
Officers responded to the 600 block of West Belleview Avenue regarding a report of identity theft. The victim reported that he received a letter in the mail regarding a loan in his name. The victim said that he never applied for such a loan.
Grand Theft
Officers responded to the 700 block of North Balmoral Street regarding a theft of jewelry. The victim reported that someone stole gold jewelry from her residence sometime over the past two weeks. A relative who was house sitting was reported to have had a party while the victim was away and that is when the theft was believed to have occurred.
Counterfeit Currency
Officers responded to City Hall regarding a counterfeit bill that was passed at the finance counter. A city employee reported that a resident was paying her water bill and used the counterfeit currency. No foul play was suspected, further investigation into the source of the funds is being conducted.

Officers responded to City Hall regarding a second counterfeit bill that was received at an unknown city department. The bill was discovered while employees were counting currency.
Vehicle Theft (Stolen and Returned)
Officers responded to the 500 block of North Sunnyside Street regarding a stolen vehicle report. The victim reported that an unknown suspect stole his 2005 Ford Mustang sometime overnight. While conducting the investigation, officers located the vehicle in front of a residence in the 100 block of West School Avenue.
Possession of Marijuana
Officers responded to the sub 100 block of West School Street after a State Parole Agent observed a male subject carrying a bag of marijuana. The agent detained the subject and requested police assistance. Officers contacted Chad Dillahunty, 18, who was found in possession of the marijuana. He was issued a citation at the scene.
Hit and Run Collision
Officers responded to Greg’s Express Car Wash on West Olive Avenue regarding a hit-and-run collision involving the automatic car wash. The collision was caught on surveillance. According to the video, a female driving a white van entered the automatic car wash too quickly and struck the mechanism inside.
Mentally Disordered Minor
Officers responded to the 1000 block of North Stonegate Cove regarding a suicidal minor. The minor swallowed 15-20 Ibuprofen tablets and attempted to cut her wrists. The minor was detained for a 72-hour mental health evaluation.
Violation of Parole
Officers sighted Christopher Barnett, who they believed was wanted by parole, in the area of Gerry Lane and Indiana Street. Surveillance was set up and Barnett was subsequently arrested when he was located hiding in a nearby backyard. He was booked into the county jail.
Residential Burglary
Officers responded to the 1500 block of West Pamela Court regarding a suspected burglary. They discovered the front door of the residence had been kicked in while the home owner was at work. The victim reported that a television and a bag of jewelry were stolen.
Burglary / Vandalism
Officers on foot through the campus of Pioneer Middle School discovered a vending machine near the gymnasium had been broken into, as well as fresh graffiti. Further investigation revealed that the suspects cut the lock off of a portion of the surrounding gate into the campus to gain access.
Burglary
Officers were dispatched to Town & Country Market regarding a theft that just occurred. The suspect, Brittney Rivas, was being combative with employees who were attempting to detain her. Further investigation revealed that a burglary had been committed; Rivas was booked into the county jail.
