Crime Blotter 07/16/12

Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Monday, July 16, 2012
Residential Burglary
Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of North Kevin Lane regarding burglary report. The victim reported she arrived home and noticed the front door was left open. Upon further inspection the victim discovered a broken window. Nothing was missing from the residence and the damage was estimated at $500. This case is still under investigation.

Residential Burglary
Officers responded to the sub 100 block of North Fourth Street regarding a residential burglary report. The victim reported unknown suspect(s) forced open a door, which appeared to be kicked. The suspect(s) took a television and nothing else appeared disturbed. The incident occurred between 7:30 a.m. and 4:50 p.m. on today’s date. There was evidence located at the scene and the case remains under investigation.

Domestic Violence
Officer White responded to a confidential address in southwest Porterville regarding a domestic violence report. The victim reported she was in a argument with her husband, Robert Pompa, 35, before Pompa physically assaulted her. Pompa was contacted and was taken into custody without incident. Pompa was booked into the custody of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office for charges of Domestic Violence.

Vehicle Theft
Officers responded to the 100 block of North Villa Street regarding an auto theft report. The victim reported unknown suspect(s) stole her vehicle sometime between 10 p.m. on Sunday and 11:50 a.m. on Monday date. The vehicle was parked in the driveway before it was stolen.

Prowling
Officers responded to the 500 block of South Cottage Street regarding an unwanted subject report. The victim reported a subject rang her door bell, however, she did not answer the door. The victim said once the subject felt nobody was home he kicked the front door but it did not open. The kick caused the interior burglar alarm to sound and the subject left the area in what she described as a white sedan. The victim said she observed the subject through the peep hole in the front door and described him as a white or Hispanic male with a light complexion. The case is still under investigation and anyone having information is encouraged to contact the Porterville Police Department.

Warrant Arrest
Officers contacted Alejandro Sanchez, 22, at Dameron Street and Tomah Avenue. He was determined to have an active warrant for his arrest and was arrested. Sanchez was booked into the custody of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Officer White responded to CHP Office regarding an intentional collision involving a vehicle. The victim reported she was followed by a subject she identified as a friend of a friend. The subject was driving a white mini van with no plates and rear ended the victim’s vehicle near Newcomb Street and Morton Avenue. The subject continued to follow the victim to Prospect Street and Morton Avenue where he rear ended the victim’s vehicle a second time. The subject continued to follow the victim until she reached the CHP Office and turned in. The subject fled the area in his vehicle and the case is currently under investigation.

Vehicle Theft
Officers responded to the 400 block of West Springville regarding an auto theft. The victim reported the vehicle was stolen sometime between 7:30 p.m. Sunday and 11:30 a.m. Monday from the parking lot. The case is currently under investigation.

Prowler
Officers responded to the 1800 block of West Monache Avenue regarding a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle parked in front of the residence and suspicious subjects began knocking on the reporting party’s front door. The reporting party told officers once the subjects quit knocking on the door he exited his residence and observed a gray compact vehicle leaving the area.

Assault
Officers responded to Sierra View District Hospital regarding an assault. The victim reported he was assaulted on July 4 by Hector Ramirez, 48, but did not make a report in fear of retaliation. The victim reported the assault took place on East Yates Avenue and during the assault Ramirez struck him with a stick causing injury. Officers contacted Ramirez and took him into custody for assault with a deadly weapon and Ramirez had an active warrant for his arrest. Ramirez was booked at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Substation in Porterville.

Possession of Cocaine
Officers responded to the sub 100 block of North Third Street regarding a fight in progress. A 17-year-old male juvenile was contacted and found to be in possession of cocaine and marijuana. The juvenile arrested and booked at the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility for possession of cocaine.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance
Officers conducted a vehicle stop at Putnam Avenue and Second Street for a moving violation. During the traffic stop officers contacted a passenger, Jennifer Crawford, 34, who was found in possession of drug paraphernalia. Crawford also displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Crawford was arrested and cited and released from the police department.

Attempted Burglary
Officers responded to 800 block of West Lybarger Avenue regarding a residential burglary. The victim reported sometime between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. unknown suspect(s) shattered the rear slider window of her residence and might have made entry inside the residence. Officers checked the interior of the residence but nobody was located inside. The victim advised nothing appeared missing or disturbed. The case is still under investigation.
