Crime blotter 2/27/13

Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Wednesday, Feb. 27

Vehicle Burglary
Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of West San Lucia Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim stated subject(s) forced entry into his yellow 2004 Chevy Avalanche pick up truck. Once inside, the subject(s) took a Pioneer car stereo, a Nintendo DS and a wallet.

Attempt Vehicle Burglary
Officers were dispatched to In-Shape City regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim stated subject(s) forced entry into his 2003 GMC Sierra.

Grand Theft
Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of North Main Street regarding a theft of ladders. The victim stated subject(s) entered a fenced area of the property. Entry was made by cutting a lock to the fence. Once inside, the subject(s) took six, 11-foot ladders and eight 18-foot ladders.

Possession of
Vicodin for Sale
Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of West Tomah Avenue regarding a subject going door to door selling Vicodin. Officers contacted Joey Black who was found in possession of Vicodin pills and cash. Witnesses were contacted at the scene and reported Black was attempting to sell Vicodin to them. He was arrested and booked at the Tulare County Jail.

Felony Warrants
Officers responded to SVDH regarding a subject calling 911 because he was not receiving the help he believed he needed. Officers contacted Matthew Kelly, 18, who had a felony warrant and a misdemeanor warrant. Kelly did not have any medical issues, was arrested, and later booked at the substation.

Injury Traffic Collision
Officers responded to Highway 190 and Plano Street regarding an injury traffic collision. A white Honda Crosstour was in the left-turn pocket of eastbound Highway 190 at Plano Street. The Crosstour had been rear-ended by a black Honda Accord. The driver of the Crosstour complained of pain and was transported via ambulance to SVDH for observation. The driver of the Accord complained of pain and was transported via ambulance to KDDH. Officers smelled an odor of alcohol on the driver of the Accord; however, she was unable to conduct field sobriety tests. A blood sample was obtained from the driver of the Accord, and the case will be submitted to the District Attorney once blood results are received.

DUI / Resisting Arrest
Officers were dispatched to the area of Olive Avenue and Plano Street regarding a possible DUI driver being followed by the reporting party. The officers caught up to the vehicle in the area of Conner Street and Roby Avenue where they contacted the driver, identified as Christian Sanchez, 18. Sanchez was very uncooperative and while officers were conducting the initial investigation, Sanchez became belligerent to the point he had to be detained. Sanchez was transported to the PD where officers continued their DUI investigation. Sanchez was processed and later booked at the substation.

Robbery
Officers responded to A Street and Walnut Avenue regarding an armed robbery that just occurred. Officers contacted two male subjects who stated that about 30 minutes prior, they were accosted near the Heritage Center by two HMA’s, one who was in possession of a handgun. The suspects demanded money and the beer the victims had in their possession. The suspects then struck one of the victims with the gun causing a minor injury to his face. The suspects fled on foot. The victim did not require medical attention.
