Crime blotter 1/19/13
Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Vehicle Burglary
Officers responded to Vandalia Elementary School regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim stated that suspect(s) smashed out the rear window to her 2005 Ford Expedition and stole her in-dash Pioneer stereo with an 8-inch screen. Physical evidence was collected at the scene.
Public Intoxication
Officers were dispatched to Big D Liquor regarding an unwanted subject who had threatened to “burn down the store”. Officers arrived and contacted Charles Gaxiola, 36. Gaxiola was intoxicated by alcohol consumption to the point he was unable to care for himself. He was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the TCSO Main Jail in Visalia.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Methamphetamine / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Resist Arrest / Warrant Arrest
Officers contacted Alberto Alcantar, 44, at the Palm Tree Inn during a pedestrian contact. He was determined to be under the influence. While the officer attempted to place Alcantar in custody, he resisted arrest and began fighting with the officer. Assisting officers responded and after a short struggle, Alcantar was taken into custody. Alcantar also had a warrant for his arrest and was in possession of methamphetamine and a glass pipe. He was booked at TCSO Porterville Substation.
Public Intoxication / Robbery
Officers responded to the 1400 block of North Cottage Place regarding a large party with subjects fighting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a victim who stated he was separating the fight when he was struck by a male subject who then pulled his gold necklace from around his neck. The victim said the subject then fled out of the apartment. Officers are continuing to seek the suspect involved. As subjects were leaving, Christopher Barajas, 21, was contacted and determined to be extremely intoxicated. He was taken into custody for public intoxication and transported to TCSO.
DUI
Officers contacted Sergio Azevedo, 20, during a traffic stop at Division Street and North. He was DUI and was taken into custody. He was booked at TCSO for housing.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance
Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of East Presidio Avenue regarding a suspicious subject call. Larry Crowder, 24, was contacted at the scene. Crowder was determined to be under the influence and was taken into custody.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance
Officers contacted Justin Henson, 34, during a pedestrian contact at Putnam Avenue and Villa Street. He was under the influence and was taken into custody.
