Leadership Porterville officials are currently recruiting candidates for participation in the class of 2009-10, which begins in September.
The purpose of Leadership Porterville is to enable potential and emerging community leaders to positively impact the greater Porterville area as interested and informed residents.
The program works to inspire active and effective involvement through the confidence, skills, and knowledge gained by participation.
Leadership Porterville sessions now happen September through June, with graduation after the June 2010 session.
A comprehensive curriculum focuses on various topics currently impacting Porterville and the surrounding area, as well as those issues in our community’s future.
Anyone who has considered becoming a leader in any arena, and is seeking an opportunity for personal growth, will find the Leadership Porterville curriculum to be both challenging and rewarding.
Training includes analysis of complex and controversial local issues, introduction to leaders of business, civic and legislative organizations, and participation in problem-solving and decision-making activities.
Additionally, participants receive training in leadership development, team dynamics, and conflict resolution, as well as hand-on experience in community project implementation.
Leadership Porterville is not restricted to managers in business and industry, rather, it is a program beneficial to employees at all levels working either in private or public sector venues.
Those seeking refinement of leadership and management competencies for professional growth are also ideal candidates for the program.
Employers are invited to nominate qualified employees and individuals may also apply on their own. Deadline for submitting applications is 5 p.m. July 24.
Applications and nomination forms are available at the Chamber Office or online at www.portervillechamber.org. For more information, please contact the Porterville Chamber of Commerce at 784-7502.
