Library to join in Read Across America Day
The Porterville City Library will join the National Education Association and millions across the country to celebrate Read Across America on Friday, March 1.
Now in its 16th year, the one-day special event motivates children and teens to read through fun activities, partnerships and reading resources. The day also commemorates the 109th birthday of popular children’s author Dr. Seuss.
Families are invited to join in celebrating this nationwide annual event with their local library.
Dr. Seuss’ famous Cat in the Hat will be making special appearances throughout the day at the library and providing reading times for kids of all ages. There will also be photo opportunities with the Cat in the Hat. A special story time will begin at 10 a.m. with the library staff, and every half hour starting at 1 p.m. there will be stories, crafts and movies in the children’s area.
