Felons accused of weapons possession
Two Porterville men, previously convicted felons, are in custody for alleged possession of weapons.
The pair, identified as 27-year-old Julian Silvas and 36-year-old Manuel Camacho, were booked at the Tulare County Jail.
The Porterville Police Department reports that at approximately 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 400 block of West Morton Avenue for a noise complaint. When the first officer arrived, she contacted a man, later identified as Silvas, sitting inside a car that was blocking the driveway.
Police said Silvas was found to be in possession of a concealed weapon and was taken into custody.
A search revealed Silvas was also in possession of several syringes and methamphetamine, and a warrant check revealed he had a warrant for a parole violation, the PPD reports.
Moments later, the officers were contacted by Camacho, who said the car belonged to him.
While speaking with Camacho, the officer spotted a partially-concealed shotgun in the car.
Camacho was also detained. Police seized the shotgun, which had the barrel sawed off.
A records check also revealed both men are previously convicted felons.
Silvas was booked on suspicion of possession of a sawed-off shotgun, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a dagger, possession of a concealed firearm, possession of methamphetamine, and for possession of syringes.
Camacho was booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a sawed-off shotgun, and possession of a concealed firearm.
