Porterville resident to be on ‘Lets Make A Deal'
Wednesday's show features Sylvia Vasquez
One Porterville resident can be seen trying to win some big prizes Wednesday on television.
Sylvia Vasquez will be on Wednesday’s “Let’s Make A Deal” — a television show where audience members dress in outlandish costumes to win cash and prizes by making deals with the host.
The episode airs at 2 p.m. Wednesday on KGPE, Channel 47.
The one-hour series is hosted by Emmy Award-winner Wayne Brady at the Sunset Bronson Studios in Hollywood. Vasquez was selected to compete when she attended a show in October.
On Wednesday, viewers can watch Vasquez, dressed in a wacky costume, win either the fabulous ‘Bid Deal of the Day’, a gag prize known as a zonk, or a zonky — a half-zebra, half-donkey.
“Let’s Make A Deal” has comedy, music, action and prizes. CBS revived the series in 2009 with Brady as the new host.
Traders are often given one prize to start each deal, sometimes hidden behind a door, curtain or box. The trader is then presented with a second offer with the choice to keep the initial prize, without seeing what it is, or trade it for a new prize. Other times, contestants are asked to play a simple game — rolling dice or selecting playing cards from a deck. Prizes range from the zonk gifts, worth nearly nothing, to brand new automobiles, vacations, appliances, cash and jewelry. At the end of each episode, the host also offers a series of quick deals, offering cash to audience members who have random items — ranging from a driver’s license from a certain state, a ticket stub, beauty items, and other small items with them.
