First Porterville baby born on expected due date
Porterville couple Dora Ortiz and Jaime Guiterrez welcomed their son Miguel Angel Gutierrez at 11:01 a.m. on January 1, making him the first Porterville baby of 2013.
He weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20 inches long.
“For us it’s always really exciting. It’s a fresh start for a new year. What a better way to ring in the new year than with a new baby?” said Ramona Contreras, director of marketing, community relations and the foundation at Sierra View District Hospital. According to Ramona, Miguel was born on his expected due date.
“It’s kind of unusual. He’s probably the second that has been born on his due date,” said Contreras.
A gift basket filled with items from the community was presented to the family.
“All of the staff are really excited,” said Contreras. “They donated to the gift basket.”
Miguel joins his two older siblings and his parents in Porterville.
