Missing Porterville man found dead near Success Lake
The corpse of a 23-year-old Porterville man who was reported missing in August was located Sunday evening near Success Lake, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department reports.
Authorities were called to the lake around 6:40 p.m. Sunday after a family who was riding horses near the lake reported finding possible human remains, the Sheriff’s Department said in a news release issued Monday.
A detective was dispatched to the area and secured it overnight and additional detectives from the Tulare County Coroner’s Office, Forensic Investigations and Violent Crimes Office were on scene throughout the day and examined the remains.
The man, identified as Gerald Noble, had been reported missing on Aug. 24. Noble had reportedly walked away from his home after an argument with his parents and was considered an at-risk missing adult.
The cause of Noble’s death is under investigation and pending a coroner’s report, the Sheriff’s Department reports.
