Porterville Inn for sale

Porterville’s Best Western Plus hotel — Porterville Inn — is for sale at a public auction to be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 1 at the front entrance to Tulare City Hall, 411 E. Kern Ave.

“There’s no change for the people. It’s still open,” said Rob Auman, regional manager, Driftwood Hospitality Management of Florida. “The only thing I do know is that the hotel will continue to operate the same way as it always has.”

Auman said he was not able to make any other comments.

Attorney Robert Blanchard, of Blanchard, Krasner and French, for the hotel’s owner’s — Excel Hotel Group — said he was not able to comment.

The two-story, 115-room hotel has numerous amenities, including a fitness center, swimming pool, hot tub, spa, guest laundry room, hair salon, and tanning beds. They also offer massage services, a free daily breakfast and free high-speed internet. The rooms also have numerous amenities, including Nintendo game units, refrigerators, microwaves and in-room safes — and all of it will be included in the sale. As will, all furniture, carpeting, drapes, blinds, paintings, and anything else in the hotel, from the alcohol and bar fixtures to cooking appliances, office and medical equipment, washers, dryers and other customary hotel equipment.

The trustee sale will be used to pay the remaining principal sum of any Deed of Trust notes, interest fees, late charges, advances and the fees, charges and expenses of the undersigned trustee.

The starting bid for the hotel is close to $7.2 million — specifically, $7,227,953.87 — but the amount may be greater on the day of sale.
