Opal Rose Todd

Opal Rose Todd, a resident of Porterville, died there Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006. She was 89.


Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Myers Chapel in Porterville. A service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Porterville, with the Rev. Joe Hurd and the Order of the Eastern Star Palm Leaf Chapter OES officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Porterville.


Mrs. Todd was a native of Newark, Mo., previously of Ducor. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Porterville. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Palm Leaf Chapter OES and a past matron of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Sharon Temple, Daughters of Niles, Tulare/Kings County Niles Club, the Sierra View District Hospital League of Volunteers and served with the Pink Ladies of Sierra View District Hospital for 25 years. She was a volunteer, leader and community leader for the 4-H Club for over 50 years and represented the state of California as an outstanding leader in Chicago. She was also a member of the Garden Club and a 50-year member of the Ducor and Porterville Women's Clubs.


She is survived by one daughter, Debra Sumpter of Madera; two sons, Gordon Todd of Reedley and Gary Todd of Porterville; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Todd; and one son, Calvin Todd.
