Man accused of public drunkenness, egging police on
A local man accused of public intoxication, threatening police officers and challenging them to fight has been arrested.
The incident happened at 12:19 a.m. Wednesday, in the sub-100 block of North Salisbury Street. The Porterville Police Department reports that officers responded to a home there regarding a fight between several people.
Police said that when the officers arrived, they found several intoxicated persons, one of whom was identified as 20-year-old Julian Cardenas of Porterville.
The PPD said in a news release issued Wednesday that Cardenas was “extremely belligerent and intoxicated and began threatening the officers and challenging them to fight.”
Cardenas was arrested without incident and taken to the Tulare County Jail, where he had to be restrained by jail personnel, the PPD reports.
A search of Cardenas’ person inside the jail revealed he was in possession of cocaine, the PPD said.
Cardenas was booked on suspicion of threatening a police officer, possession of cocaine, bringing drugs into the jail, and for public intoxication.
