Gang member arrested for DUI after evading police
A Northerner gang member was arrested earlier this week after he led police on a car chase to the 1000 block of N. Wisconsin St.
After a struggle with officers, Jesse Hernandez, 28, was arrested and also found to have been driving drunk, a press release from the Porterville Police Department states.
The pursuit started at 7:43 p.m. Monday when Hernandez failed to yield to officers when they attempted to stop him for a traffic violation in the 600 block of North Villa Street. Officers followed the vehicle to Wisconsin Street where Hernandez came to a stop and fled on foot. They chased after him and attempted to subdue him, but a struggle broke out, the PPD reports.
He was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Tulare County Main Jail on suspicion of evading a police officer, driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting arrest with force, and being a participant of a criminal street gang.
