THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

One man is in custody and a woman is being sought in the aftermath of a domestic violence case in Porterville.

Officers with the Porterville Police Department were sent at about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday to the 300 block of North E Street to investigate a report of a man hitting a woman. Witnesses said the man and woman got into a silver-colored vehicle and drove away.

Officer Michael Benas initiated a traffic stop at Morton Avenue and E Street on a vehicle matching the description.

Benas spoke to the driver, identified as Tommy De Jesus, 34, of Porterville, and the female victim. She told Benas that De Jesus assaulted her and that she hurt her ankle while trying to get away, police report.

De Jesus was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and booked at the Police Department. Police later found he had a misdemeanor warrant as well. The nature of the warrant was not released. He was taken to the Tulare County Jail in Visalia.

The victim was taken to Sierra View District Hospital for treatment.

Police later found she has a felony warrant for her arrest — under an alias. The nature of the warrant was not released. Police went to Sierra View to serve the warrant, but the woman left the emergency room before receiving treatment and was not found.
