Traffic stop leads to drug-related arrest

THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

A Porterville man was arrested Tuesday after police found a small amount of methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

Officer Michael Benas of the Porterville Police Department initiated a traffic stop at about 1:15 p.m. in the 900 block of North Jaye Street for a suspected vehicle violation.

The passenger in the vehicle, identified as Henry Joe Vargas, 26, had a felony warrant for his arrest, police report. While taking Vargas into custody, some methamphetamine was found in his possession, police report.

Vargas was booked at the Police Department for the felony warrant and on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine. He was later taken to the Tulare County Jail in Visalia.
