18-year-old accused of spousal abuse

An 18-year-old Porterville man is in jail after allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend.

The incident happened just after 7 p.m. Tuesday in the sub-100 block of East Danner Avenue.

The Porterville Police Department said officers responded to a home in the area regarding a disturbance between the couple. When officers arrived, they were told the woman’s boyfriend, identified as Dusty Gonzalez, fled the scene in a car.

Police said the woman stated that during an argument, Gonzalez struck her on the face, causing a cut. She is also two-months pregnant and requested to be taken to the hospital via ambulance for observation, the PPD reported.

Several minutes later, officers found Gonzalez in the 1200 block of East Springville Drive, where he was arrested.

He was later booked into Tulare County jail on suspicion of spousal abuse.

The woman was released from the hospital without any significant injuries.
