Names released in Wednesday's crash

Lidia Carbajal, 58 of Porterville, was the driver of an SUV who was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno after her vehicle collided nearly head-on with another SUV at just after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The collision occurred on Drive 208 west of Road 208. The driver of the other vehicle, 18-year-old Rigoberto Sanchez of Porterville, was not injured, while a 4-year-old in Carbajal’s vehicle was taken to Kaweah Delta Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

According to the CHP, Sanchez’s vehicle crossed the white line and struck Carbajal’s vehicle.
Carbajal was pinned in the vehicle and it took county firefighters several minutes to free her, eventually removing the entire top of her Ford Escape.
