Police arrested a 43-year-old Porterville man Monday evening in connection with a burglary attempt that occurred at the Flower Mill earlier that day.

The Porterville Police Department reported that just after 12 a.m. Monday, officers responded to the local flower shop at 619 N. Main St. for a burglar alarm that went off.

When officers arrived, they found someone had tried to break into the business by prying open a door, but were unsuccessful.

Police said the suspects were likely scared off by the alarm and the police response.

Officers checked the area but did not find any suspects.

At 6:43 p.m. that same day, officers contacted James Boswell in the 700 block of North Main Street and arrested him on a felony arrest warrant, unrelated to the incident at the Flower Mill.

During the arrest, officers found evidence linking Boswell to the attempted burglary.

He was additionally booked on suspicion of attempted commercial burglary and later booked at the Tulare County Jail.
