PORTERVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT


Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.



Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012


Warrant Arrest


Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of North Murry Street regarding subjects digging through trash cans. Officers contacted Santiago Anaya, 38, who had three warrants for his arrest. Anaya was arrested and later issued citations for his warrants.



Petty Theft / Fraudulent Use of Access Cards


Officers responded to St. Anne’s Church regarding a theft report. The victim reported that suspect(s) took her purse from her unlocked vehicle. The purse contained her identification, passports, credit cards and miscellaneous items. The victim called to cancel her credit cards and she was informed that one of her cards was used at Express Mart in Porterville. The case remains under investigation.

Warrant


Officers contacted a 17-year-old juvenile in the 1400 block of West Tomah Avenue. She had an active warrant for her arrest and was booked at the Juvenile Detention Facility.



Burglary


Officers were dispatched to Walmart regarding a shoplifter who fled from loss prevention. The suspect, Isaac Sanchez, 26, was witnessed by loss prevention agents concealing several articles of clothing in a plastic bag. Sanchez fled from the store and was later located by police officers. Sanchez had some of the property on his person and the remaining had been discarded by Sanchez prior to his arrest. The remaining property was not located. Sanchez was booked at TCSO.



Warrant


Officers responded to the sub-100 block of South A Street regarding a suspicious subject. Robert Garcia, 19, was contacted and had an active warrant for his arrest. He was booked at PPD and released on a cite to appear.



DUI


Officers were dispatched to the area of Highway 190 and Jaye Street regarding a report of a vehicle swerving on the roadway and the driver possibly brandishing a handgun. Officers located the vehicle at Sunrise Market, 415 W. Poplar, and contacted suspect, Hector Celaya, 31. He was under the influence and was taken into custody. He was booked at TCSO and no gun was located in the vehicle.



Petty Theft


Officers responded to the 1500 block of West Putnam Avenue regarding a theft report. The victim reported that he parked his bicycle in his front yard and went to the store. When he returned his bike was gone.
