Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Wanted Parolee Arrest
Officers responded to The Government Plaza on Henderson Avenue to assist parole agents locate a wanted parolee. Martin Moreno, 48, was detained and booked.
Felon in Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Resist Arrest, Warrant Arrest
Officers responded to the 200 block of North Cobb Street regarding a suspicious male subject. Officers arrived and observed the subject, later identified as Anselmo Ruiz Aguilera. Aguilera fled on foot, eastbound toward Highway 65. Aguilera was spotted by assisting officers and was subsequently apprehended behind Motel 6. Officers conducted further investigation and located items Aguilera discarded when fleeing from officers. Officers located a loaded Magnum revolver. Aguilera had a warrant for violating the terms of his “Post Release Community Supervision”, was booked at the TCSO Substation for the above-listed charges.
Warrant Arrest
Officers contacted Roy Chavera during a pedestrian contact at Newcomb Street and Morton Avenue. He had a warrant for his arrest which was served at that time.
Possession of Methamphetamine for Sale
Officers contacted Jose Baca at Walnut Avenue and Main street after observing suspicious activity between Baca and another subject who was in a vehicle. Once the subjects observed officers, they both left in separate directions. Upon contact, Baca discarded two bindles of methamphetamine on the ground. He was taken into custody and booked.
Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance
Officers contacted Dena Tibbitts and Arnold Barrios at the Tavcam Inn. A warrant check revealed Tibbitts was on active probation. Two glass pipes were located on an end table along with a plastic baggy containing methamphetamine. Both displayed symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance and were taken into custody.
Driving Under the Influence of Drugs
Officers contacted Carah Barnett, 29, at Olive Avenue and Jaye Street during a traffic stop. She was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was taken into custody.
Other
Several officers conducted DUI targeted patrol throughout the evening. The detail resulted in (2) DUI arrests, (4) citations and (1) towed vehicle.
