Crime blotter 3/3/13
Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.
Sunday, March 3
Petty Theft
Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of West School Avenue regarding a petty theft report. The theft occurred sometime between March 2 at 10 p.m. and March 3 at 3 p.m. The victim reported that suspect(s) entered his unlocked vehicle and stole keys from Westfield School, a red iPhone adaptor, vehicle registration, a lanyard and eight CDs. Officers had arrested Richard Nunez, 18, for possession of stolen property earlier in the week. At the time of his arrest, Nunez was in possession of a red iPhone adaptor and several keys, which were not identified as stolen at the time. The investigating officer in that case was informed of the information and conducted further investigation. That property, being unreported at the time, was sent with Nunez and booked into his property. TCSO Main Jail was contacted and it was discovered that Nunez was released earlier in the evening. Officers conducted surveillance at Nunez’s residence and contacted him when he arrived home. Nunez was in possession of the property that was reported today in this case and it was seized and returned to the owner. Nunez was arrested again for being in possession of stolen property and booked back into jail.
Warrant Arrest
Officers contacted Allen Thomas, 39, at 670 E. Poplar Ave. regarding five warrants for his arrest. Thomas was taken into custody and transported to TCSO for housing.
Warrant Arrest / Under Influence of Controlled Substance / Possession of Heroin
Officers contacted Paula Senechal, 54, in the 800 block of West Belleview Avenue during warrant service. Senechal had an active warrant for her arrest and was taken into custody. She was also under the influence of a controlled substance and in possession of heroin. She was transported to the Porterville Police Department where she was booked on charges of possession of opiates, under the influence of a controlled substance and her warrants. She was later transported to Bob Wiley Detention Facility where she was housed.
Possession of Stolen Property / Possession of a Concealed Loaded Firearm
Officers responded to the 200 block of East Orange Avenue regarding a verbal altercation between two male subjects. One subject was reported to have a handgun in his possession. Officers arrived on scene and observed the suspect, Noel Lopez, entering the residence. Witnesses at the scene informed officers that Lopez did not live at the residence and had discarded a handgun inside. Officers detained Lopez and subsequently located a loaded handgun behind a television in the living room of the residence. The handgun was determined to be stolen out of Woodville in 2011 and had been reported to the Tulare County Sheriff. Lopez was transported to the Porterville Police Department where he was booked on charges of possession of stolen property and possession of a concealed loaded firearm. He was subsequently transported to the Tulare County Jail where he was housed.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance
Officers contacted Janet Chambers, 49, at 93 E. Date Ave. during a call of a suspicious subject talking to herself. She was under the influence of a controlled substance and was taken into custody. She was subsequently booked at Bob Wiley Detention facility.
Possession of Methamphetamine
Officers responded to the Cricket Store on Olive Avenue regarding a suspicious subject with a bag full of cell phones. Lucas Aguirre, 33, was contacted in the area and was in possession of methamphetamine. Aguirre was in possession of several cell phones, however, none were reported stolen. Aguirre was booked at TCSO for housing.
Burglary
Officers responded to Vallarta Market regarding a theft report. David Siebels, 58, was detained by store security outside the store after stealing from the store. Siebels was taken into custody and booked at TCSO where he was housed.
Public Intoxication / Warrant Arrest
Officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of West Westfield Avenue regarding a reported battery. John Bjorkman, 52, was in the roadway upon officers’ arrival and intoxicated. Bjorkman had a warrant out of Santa Cruz. Bjorkman was arrested for public intoxication and his warrant. The battery report was determined to be untrue.
