Music, chili and a car show provide a variety of events
The popular band Duggins Citrus Express returns to Music on Main Street as part of the upcoming week’s activities.
Music on Main Street continues
The city’s Fall Concert Series continues Friday with the next installment of Music on Main Street.
The concert with this week’s featured band, Duggins Citrus Express, begins at 6 p.m. in Centennial Park. The band specializes in country and western music.

Friday Night Market continues in Lindsay
The seasonal Friday Night Market continues this week in Lindsay.
The market opens at 5:30 and ends about 10:30 p.m. at Sweet Brier Plaza.
The event is free and open to the public.
This year’s Friday Night Market continues each Friday through Nov. 21.

Lindsay Chili Cook-Off set Saturday
The City of Lindsay is hosting the 24th Annual Chili Cook-Off from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Sweet Brier Plaza.
The Chili Cook-Off is the foundation for a day filled with events including the inaugural Cartober Fest Car Show and an evening concert at the McDermont Field House.
Cartober Fest Car Show planned in Lindsay
The McDermont Field House is presenting its first Cartober Fest Car Show from 10 a.m. to mid-afternoon Saturday.
The day will feature live music by the Fabulous Rhythm Aces and Mr. Rude.
Move in is from 7 to 10 a.m. with judging at 3 p.m.. Cars not in place by 10 a.m. will not be judged.
First-, second- and third-place awards will be given in more than 30 cars and motorcycle categories. Stereos, hydraulics and air bags are prohibited from use during the show.
The entry fee is $25 for cars ad trucks, $15 for motorcycles. Owners of the first 100 entries will receive a free McDermont cash card. Registration is $35 the day of the event.
The show is open to street rods, classics, muscle cars, special interest cars, trucks and motorcycles.

McDermont hosting Midnight Star in concert
The McDermont Field House is presenting Octoberfest with Midnight Star and Comedy Jam from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday.
Tickets are $50 each for seating within three front sections facing the stage, and $30 each for general admission seating. Doors open at 5 p.m. with happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m.
A free after party is planned with a guest disc jockey.

Eagle Mountain Casino hosts Gabriel Iglesias
You’ve seen him on Comedy Central, now see Gabriel Iglesias live at Eagle Mountain Casino at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3.
Tickets are $20, $30.
The Eagle Mountain Event Center is the entertainment hub of the south valley. The 1,250-seat venue houses the greatest concerts, comedy, sporting events and meetings in the area.
