Motorcyclist injured after collision

PORTERVILLE

A motorcyclist was transported to a hospital after driving into the side of a car Thursday afternoon, the CHP reported.

The car, a 1995 Geo Prism driven by Anita Velazquez, 38, was traveling east on Reid Avenue, west of Lime Street. The motorcyclist, Christopher Acuf, 30, driving a 1980 Harley Davidson, was behind Velazquez and was attempting to pass her when she started to turn left into a private driveway.

The front end of the motorcycle struck the side of the Geo, and Acuf was thrown from the motorcycle.

He suffered lacerations to his right arm and head, but was hospitalized because of the pain in neck and head.

Both Valazquez, her passenger Nicolas Arroyo, 38, and Acuf were wearing safety equipment.

The CHP described Valazquez’s turn as “unsafe” but no one was cited.
