Dr. Charles McClure

Dr. Charles Marston McClure, a resident of Springville, died there Friday, Aug. 8, 2003. He was 79.


A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Whitehurst Loyd Chapel in Porterville. Interment will be private.


Mr. McClure was a native of Grand Rapids, Mich., and a resident of Springville for eight years, formerly of Lindsay. He was a Lindsay physician for 40 years. He was a past member of the Lindsay 20-30 Club, a member of the U.C. Berkeley California Alumnus Association and River Island Country Club. He was a past chief of staff at Lindsay District Hospital and served on the Utilization Review Board. He graduated from Lindsay High School in 1940 and the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine, in 1946. He donated much of his time to the Tulare County Hospital. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a U.S. Army Reservist.


Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne McClure-Andreotti of Waianae, Hawaii and Joan McClure of Lindsay; his sister, Elizabeth Manning of Plano, Texas; and two grandchildren.


Mr. McClure was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita McClure, in 1998.


Whitehurst Loyd Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
