Literacy Fair slated for April 12

PORTERVILLE - The 15th Annual Porterville Celebrates Reading at the Margaret J. Slattery Literacy Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 12 at Veterans Park.

The event is free and offers fun, literacy-related activities geared towards Kindergarten-to sixth-grade students; including storytelling, reading, writing, dancing, face painting, singing, and other activities, that children can participate in to earn a free book. Multiple booths, manned by school districts, social clubs, businesses, and others, will have themes, including Despicable Me, The Lorax, The Giving Tree, Book Bingo, Under the Sea, and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. The Literacy Fair is made possible with the help of many volunteers and community collaborative efforts. It is sponsored by The Rotary Club of Porterville.
