It's well water for Lindsay
Friant Water canal will be shut for winter maintenance
The residents of Lindsay will have to adjust to well water for the next few months as the Friant Water Canal closes for winter maintenance.
Lindsay’s 2,500 acre feet of canal water will be made up with well water from the city’s pumps.
The city went offline on November 8.
“Wells 14 and 15 will be brought online and well 11 will be available on an emergency basis,” said City Planner Bill Zigler who added that this event is nothing new.
“It’s something we always go through,”stated Zigler.
Residents may notice a change in the water.
“Well water is a bit harder than canal water,”said Zigler.
City Services Director Mike Camarena, added that the town’s water allotment from the canal will be restored between February 15 and March 1 and added that service should not be interrupted.
“In the normal operational sense we have plenty of water to serve the city. However, water is a precious commodity and we can’t promote any sort of wasteful habits,” said Camarena.
