Lindsay candidate forum is Thursday night

At 6 p.m. on Thursday some of the Lindsay City Council incumbents including Council member Pam Kimball, and some challengers, Steven Mecum and Rosaena Sanchez will participate in a candidate forum at the Lindsay Wellness Center.

“It is the bridge between the community and the candidates,” said Irlanda Ramirez the community organizer for the Dolores Huerta Foundation which is co-sponsoring the event along with Quinto Sol. The forum will consist of an introduction of the candidates, four general questions that will be asked of the candidates and then a question-and-answer session will commence.

“The community will have the opportunity to ask questions of the candidates,” stated Ramirez who added that this forum will be a chance for community members to receive information about why each candidate is running.

Council member Pam Kimball is ready.

“I hope to just make myself better known to people in town who don’t know me,” said Kimball who added that the forum would help residents to make a decision.

Challenger Steven Mecum agreed.

“It’ll be a way for them to hear what’s going on and hear changes and what those will be,” said Mecum who explained that he will be there to offer solutions.

“To get out information about how we’re going to run things at City Hall and the plan for the community,” stated Mecum.
