Special Lindsay council meeting is tonight

The Lindsay City Council will have a special meeting at 6 p.m. today in council chambers at City Hall, 251 E. Honolulu St.
On the agenda once again is a request by staff to award a contract for the Sierra View Avenue extension project at Centennial Park to Lindsay-based 99 Pipeline Inc. for $313,250.
The project, if approved, would extend the east-west running avenue on the north edge of the park, thereby connecting Sequoia and Parkside avenues and providing access to the Lindsay Community Center.
Staff’s request was shot down 2-1 at last Tuesday’s meeting, when many residents claimed that staff and the council were moving too fast on the matter. Three affirmative votes were needed to carry the motion.
