Motorcycle rider injured in crash on Mountain Road 50

SPRINGVILLE

A motorcycle rider was treated for minor injuries at a Fresno hospital, following a crash Wednesday afternoon on Mountain Road 50 east of Mountain Road 56, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Willard Ewer, 74, of InyoKern, was flown to Fresno Regional Medical Center at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was heading east on MR50 and entering a left-hand curve, CHP said. He was unable to negotiate the curve and laid the motorcycle down on its side.

Tulare County Fire Department personnel reported finding Ewer, who was wearing a helmet, conscious and sitting next to a tree complaining of back and shoulder pain. The left side of his forehead and left-lower leg were bruised. Ewer stated he had pain to the left side of his back and assumed he had a broken rib.

The CHP continues to investigate the incident.
