Stolen mail leads to arrests
Deputies with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a report of mail theft in progress in the 2700 block of Avenue 138 in Porterville on Saturday morning.
Upon arrival, deputies were told that two suspects, driving in a vehicle, were seen taking mail from the victim’s and neighbor’s mail boxes. The victim was able to provide a licence plate number, which, when checked, returned an address in the Ducor area.
Deputies were able to locate this vehicle at that Ducor residence, and found two suspects, Isaias Hernandez and Tasha Guillermo, who they arrested for the alleged mail theft. The suspects were also both wanted for outstanding warrants. A subsequent search of the vehicle enabled the deputies to recover the stolen mail.
Investigations into the alleged actions of Hernandez and Guillermo have identified that the suspects have a number of other victims, with 35 individuals having their mail stolen, and another 24 having their identities taken.
Hernandez and Guillermo have been booked into jail at the Porterville Substation of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department.
