Crime blotter 2/24/13

Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Sunday, Feb. 24

Possession of Marijuana
Officers contacted an Isais Sanchez, 20, and two juveniles, a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old, in a vehicle in the 300 block of North Roche Street. The subjects were in possession of hashish and smoking devices. Sanchez was booked at the substation and the juveniles were booked at the juvenile detention facility.

Special Enforcement Team
Officers were driving through the parking lot at the Tulare County Government Plaza and observed three males standing near a vehicle in the parking lot behind the buildings. One of the subjects was painting graffiti on the block wall. Officers contacted Alberto Garcia, 29, and two juveniles. During the contact, officers discovered that one of the juvenile’s hands was covered in blue spray paint that matched the fresh graffiti the officer observed him painting on the block wall. The juvenile was arrested for vandalism. Garcia was contacted and was under the influence of alcohol. It was further determined that he had provided the juveniles with alcohol. He was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The other juvenile was too intoxicated to care for his own safety and was arrested for public intoxication. All suspects were booked and processed.

Auto Theft
Officers responded to the Food-4-Less parking lot regarding a stolen vehicle. The victim reported that suspect(s) stole his tan 2004 GMC 2500 pickup from the parking lot while it was parked there during the day and he was at work.
