Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Annoying a Juvenile, Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, Resist Arrest
Billy Strickland purchased ladies clothing from a rummage sale at Monache High School. During the cash transaction, Strickland held onto a female juvenile’s hand requiring her to pull away. Billy fled into Veterans Park where he was contacted and subsequently arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest. Billy was booked at the substation for annoying or molesting a child, suspicion of controlled substance use, and obstructing a police officer.
Located Stolen Vehicle
A vehicle stolen from Delano was located abandoned in the 400 block of North Cottage Street. The vehicle steering column was cracked and physical evidence was located at the scene. The case remains under investigation.
Attempt Auto Theft
Officers investigated a report of vehicle tampering in the 500 block of West Dexter Avenue. The victim vehicle driver side door lock was punched and pry marks on the driver door indicated further attempts to enter the vehicle. The case remains under investigation.
Auto Theft
A white GMC Yukon was stolen from the swap meet at Porterville College. The case remains under investigation.
Petty Theft
Officers were dispatched to a theft from vehicle in the 1200 block of West Tomah Avenue. The victim reported his laptop computer and accessories were stolen from his unlocked vehicle. The vehicle was left unattended overnight between 10:30 p.m. and 8 a.m.
Warrant Arrest
Robert Lucero, 23, was contacted in the 200 block of North Matthew Street during a verbal dispute. Lucero had a $40,000 bail warrant from Kings County. He was arrested and booked at the Porterville Substation.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance
Officers responded to Motel 6 regarding an incoherent female at that location. Alethea Eugene, 27, was contacted and was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance. She was arrested and booked at Bob Wiley Detention facility.
Public Intoxication
Officers were dispatched to Highway 65 at Olive Avenue regarding a man down. Porterville Police officers, along with assisting agencies, searched the area but did not initially locate the subject. Porterville Fire Department later located the subject, Oscar Hernandez, on the embankment east of Highway 65 at Putnam Avenue. He was extremely intoxicated and was subsequently taken into custody.
Auto Theft, Hit-and-Run Traffic Collision, Resist Arrest
Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of West Castle Avenue regarding an auto theft that occurred within the past 30 minutes. Upon arrival, officers located the reported stolen vehicle east of the reporting party’s residence. The vehicle had collided into a fence in the 1500 block of North Westside Street. The direction the vehicle was facing indicated it was traveling toward the reporting party’s residence. Carlos Romero, 23, was contacted at his residence and reported he had returned home approximately 30 minutes prior when he noticed his vehicle missing. His companion, Cesar Marez, 22, also reported the same information. Further investigation determined that both parties had been drinking alcohol and family members were contacted and reported that Carlos and Cesar stated they had wrecked the truck and were going to call the police. Both were subsequently taken into custody. Carlos was booked on charges of making a false police report and hit-and-run traffic collision. Cesar was booked on charges of delaying a Police Officer.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance
Officers responded to the 300 block of South Hockett Street regarding an unwanted subject call. Larry Everhart, 62, was contacted at the residence and was hallucinating. He was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and taken into custody without incident. He was booked at Main Jail.
Vandalism
Officers were dispatched to South Doree Street regarding a vandalism that just occurred. The victim reported that suspect Justin Silvas, 25, and another subject smashed the front windshield and punctured the tire to her vehicle. The suspects fled on foot prior to officers arrival.
