An 18-year-old woman on Wednesday contacted authorities to report she had been raped.

She told Porterville police she had been raped at a home within the city limits. The address was not released.

The victim was an acquaintance of the suspect, however police report she did not know the suspect’s full identity at the time of the alleged assault.

Officers identified a 17-year-old male Porterville resident as the suspect.

Detectives contacted the suspect at about 4 a.m. Thursday at his home and took him into custody without incident. He was booked at the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility on suspicion of rape.
