Home invasion and kidnap investigated

Tulare County Sheriff’s Department investigators are looking into a home invasion in Tulare where the suspects identified themselves as law enforcement to gain entry into the home.

The crime was reported at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of West Wade in the Matheny Tract area of Tulare.

Officials said five or six suspects, described as Hispanic males ranging in age from 20 to early 30’s, broke into the home. The men spoke English with some Spanish and were wearing dark military style clothing. One person was armed with a rifle while the others were armed with handguns.

The suspects were associated with a grey or white moving truck similar to a U-Haul and a green van, possibly a 1990’s style similar to a Chevrolet Astro van. The suspects took an unknown amount of marijuana from the location.  

Three male adults were in the residence at the time. One was able to flee the residence on foot and contact law enforcement also. One victim received minor injuries to the head and was treated on scene.
