Crime blotter 2/2/13
Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Burglary / Warrant Arrest
Officers were dispatched to Walmart regarding a theft that just occurred. Juan Almandarez, 37, stole a red sweater and fled from the business. He was located in the parking lot in front of Food 4 Less. He was positively identified by Loss Prevention and the property was recovered. Almandarez also had eight warrants for his arrest. He was booked at PPD and transported to TCSD.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance / Poss. Drug Paraphernalia / Warrant Arrest
Officers responded to 500 West Theta Lane regarding suspicious subjects living in an RV at that location. The following subjects were contacted and were arrested: Lydia Gonzalez, 43, for being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a meth pipe; Roxanne Silva, 41, for being under the influence of a controlled substance and a felony warrant; Jim Sierra, 61, for being under the influence of a controlled substance; and Daniel Delgado, 49, for being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a meth pipe. All subjects were booked at PPD and a removal notice was issued on the RV.
Petty Theft
Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of West River Avenue regarding a theft report. The victim reported the suspect(s) entered her unsecured vehicle taking two gold chains, a ring, a Netbook tablet, a knife and an iPod. Neighbors reported they observed two male subjects in black hooded sweatshirts looking into vehicles in the area. Physical evidence was located at the scene and was collected.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Officers responded to the 200 block of East Presidio regarding an assault. The victim reported that he was struck over the head with a bottle by a 17-year-old female suspect. The suspect fled the scene on foot prior to officers’ arrival. The victim suffered a small laceration and bump to the right side of his head. He was transported from the scene by ambulance to SVDH. Police are actively seeking the suspect in connection with this incident.
Burglary
Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of South Main Street regarding a theft report. The victim reported that suspect(s) made entry into her Ford Mustang by tearing a hole in the convertible top and taking her purse. Both suspects were identified and were also identified in the theft on West River. Officers are actively seeking these suspects regarding this investigation.
Petty Theft
Officers responded to a business in the 400 block of West Putnam Avenue regarding a theft report. The victim reported that two subjects pulled into the rear parking lot of the business in an ‘80s model Ford Ranger. One of the subjects walked to the back of the business and stole a leaf blower and shears. The suspects then fled in their vehicle westbound on Morton Avenue.
Attempted Burglary
Officers responded to a residence on East Presidio Avenue regarding an attempted burglary report. The victim reported that suspect(s) attempted to force open the garage door causing damage to the railing system.
Warrant Arrest
Officers contacted Jose Montes, 31, at Olive Avenue and G Street. He had a warrant for his arrest. He was booked at PPD and later released on a cite to appear.
Domestic Violence
Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of West Black Oak Avenue regarding a domestic violence report. The victim stated she was pushed by her husband, Jeffrey Davis, 29, causing pain and redness to her chest. Davis left the residence prior to officer’s arrival. At approximately 4:10 p.m., Davis returned to the address and was taken into custody. He was booked at PPD and later transported to TCSD.
Warrant Arrest
Officers contacted Maria Sanchez, 41, during a traffic stop on Morton Avenue and Capitola Street. Sanchez had a warrant out of San Bernardino County. The warrant was confirmed and Sanchez was issued a citation with an agreement to appear.
Warrant Arrest
Officers contacted three subjects in the 100 block of North Main Street. One of the subjects, Steven Buhler, 23, had an active warrant for his arrest. Buhler was arrested for his warrant, processed at PPD, and released with an agreement to appear.
Domestic Violence
Officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of South Wisconsin Street regarding domestic violence. Before arrival, the suspect, Mark Smith, 19, left the residence after choking his mother. The victim advised that Smith suffers from schizophrenia, however, he choked her during an argument to the point she couldn’t breathe. During the investigation, Smith came back to the scene, at which time he was taken into custody for domestic violence. Smith was booked into the TCSD Porterville Substation.
