Fire destroys abandoned Terra Bella home

An abandoned, single-story home was destroyed by fire Tuesday.

The fire occurred at 10:44 p.m. Tuesday in the 9000 block of Road 256. The Tulare County Fire Department reports that when firefighters arrived, they found an abandoned, single-story home engulfed in flames.

The 1,900-square-foot building had flames coming from all four sides, prompting firefighters to start a defensive attack. The home was a total loss.

The fire department said that the owner of the home said she had recent issues with unauthorized people occupying the home and the property around it. She also said it was planned for demolition, though it was no longer insured.
