Man suffers stab wound to the leg

A man suffered a deep stab wound to his right leg Friday afternoon in the vicinity of the Porterville Transit Center off of Hockett Street.

Matt Brown, who was walking to the center to catch a bus to Visalia, said the unidentified man was walking from Hockett and asked him to call 9-1-1.

“He said, ‘Hey, can you call 9-1-1. I’ve been stabbed in the leg.’”

Police and emergency personnel arrived and the man was taken to the hospital. His leg was bleeding profusely.

Brown said he did not see the incident, but a trail of blood went across Hockett Street to the east of the Transit Center.

Police did not indicate they had any suspects.
