Chamber offering workshop on hiring
It has been estimated that hiring the wrong person can cost up to three times the employee’s wages.
Tips to avoid those costs will be offered by Aimee Kircher of KDG HR Solutions during a workshop April 2 put on by the Porterville Chamber of Commerce.
Obvious costs of hiring the wrong person include recruiting fees and time, advertising expenses, wages and benefits, and training investments. Hidden costs may include lost sales, lost customers, performance management and the impact on the team and morale. The “hire them and fire them if they don’t work out” strategy can prove costly. Kircher has a unique combination of more than 20 years of senior level human resources leadership and business operations experience, which has enhanced her ability to link business strategies to people and employment strategies in her counseling of business clients and human resources professionals. She is a frequent speaker and trainer on a variety of employment and human resources related topics both in-house and as a community partner.
The workshop will run 7:30 to 10 a.m. To register, call the Chamber at 784-7502. The cost is $20 for members of the Chamber or Employer Advisory Council, and $30 for non-members — breakfast and materials included. The registration deadline is March 26. Also sponsoring the workshop are the Employment Development Department and the city of Porterville.
